250 million years ago, plants began to produce pollen and seeds for the first time, a development which enabled them to reproduce more effectively. These first seed-bearing plants, known as Gymnosperms, have survived to the present day and are now extremely numerous.

A plot located near the entrance to the garden plays host to this particular plant collection which, in addition to the famous Ginkgo biloba, is home to various different species of Cycad, Encephalarto, Zamia, Dioon and Macrozamia.
