The Association of Friends of La Concepción was set up in 1995 with the aim of supporting the garden and raising its members' awareness of the botanical riches to be found in Malaga city and province.

The Association is a non-profit-making organisation that currently has almost 1,000 members. Its headquarters are on the premises of the garden itself in the “Cypress Cottage”. Activities include publication of a newsletter, “Bird of Paradise”, excursions, workshops, exhibitions and conferences, as well as an annual painting and photography competition.
