Collections
Since La Concepcion was acquired by Malaga City Council, strenuous efforts have been made to increase the number of species present in the garden. A scientific approach has been adopted, with plant collections being laid out around the fringes of the Historical Garden, thus significantly expanding the landscaped area. The main aim is to achieve a wide diversity of subtropical species, since Malaga's climate is ideal for warm-zone plants that would struggle to thrive in other parts of Europe. These collections are complemented by others featuring indigenous plants from the Malaga area and specific projects designed to protect threatened and endangered flora.
